Talk Derby Day
Wednesday, the 1st July, was Talk Derby Day.
TALK Derby is a Government-funded project to help local children develop
the speech, language and communication skills they need to succeed in life.
Lord Street Nursery is part of the Talk Derby project and the children at
nursery will have the opportunity to take part in different activities linked to
the book Animal Boogie. The story is available on YouTube here:
Here are some ideas for how you could get involved at home:
Listen to the story together and do some animal movements or dancing, like
crawling, slithering and stomping.
Make animal masks, cardboard from cereal boxes is perfect!
Here are some possible templates you could draw together or print out:
Make shakers to use when you listen to the story/song from household items
like rice and empty bottles or crisp tubes and lentils. More ideas here:
Talk about colours, size, shape, what you can hear and see and anything
that comes to mind to encourage language development as you play
We would love you to share anything you get up to with us. Please send
